Women In Security, Conflict Management and Peace (WISCOMP) is a project of the Foundation For Universal Responsibility, based in New Delhi, India. Planned as a South Asian program, WISCOMP sees its role as creating the space to engender an inclusive vocabulary on issues of peace and security. To this end, it seeks to empower new voices and promote a more people oriented and gender sensitive discourse on these crucial issues.
WISCOMP works to facilitate the participation and leadership of women in conflict resolution and peace and to leverage support for this at the national, regional, and international levels. It provides a unique professional network of women and men in the South Asian region committed to enhance the professional efficacy of women in the areas of international affairs, regional cooperation, multi track diplomacy, non violent reconciliation and peace processes.
WISCOMP works to build synergy at various levels-between theory and policy, between those working in the formal structures of foreign policy, diplomacy and international affairs, and those engaged with non-traditional security concerns. It positions its work at the confluence of security studies, conflict resolution, and peace. The intersection of these with gender concerns provides the focus of its engagement and is the leitmotif that informs its program.
