Our Aim

As a network of research institutes and think tanks in Asia. NTS-Asia aims to do the following :

  1. Develop further the process of networking among scholars and analysts working on NTS issues in the region
  2. To build long-term and sustainable regional capacity for research on NTS issues, and
  3. Mainstream and advance the field of non-traditional security studies in Asia.

RCSS

The Regional Centre for Strategic Studies (RCSS) is an independent, non-profit and non-governmental organization engaged in research and interaction on strategic and international issues pertaining to South Asia.

The main objectives of the Centre are to:

  • Sponsor, coordinate and support research on South Asian strategic and security issues
  • Promote interaction among scholars and professionals in this region and beyond,
    who are engaged in South Asian and international strategic studies
  • Foster linkages and collaboration between institutions engaged in studies related to conflict, conflict management / resolution, confidence building, peace processes, development studies, and security and stability in the region

RCSS facilitates scholars and professionals in the region to address, mutually and collectively, problems and issues of topical interest mainly on the following areas:

  • problems of national and regional security with attendant issues of approach, concepts, perceptions and trends
  • concerns on conventional defence build-up , and proliferation of small arms and weapons of mass destruction
  • impact of defence expenditure on national and regional development
  • peace processes and disarmament
  • inter-state and intra-state conflicts and their implications on regional cooperation and security
  • extra-regional factors affecting the regional stability
  • conflict -induced and development- induced forced migration and displacement of people impinging on aspects of security
  • trans-border implications of internal conflict
  • international and domestic terrorism and cross-border linkages of anti-systemic insurgents
  • problems in governance in plural societies
  • promoting confidence building and cooperative security, and
  • collaborating with international organizations and institutes to further the cause of national, regional and international security
